Depolluting ALGAE [4/4]

Bioreactors at lab-scale

Bioreactors at lab-scale have been designed to demonstrate that Coccomyxa actinabiotis is an alga which can be used to rapidly concentrate many pollutants in a very small volume. The device was successfully tested at the ILL on the effluents of the reactor. It showed these algae can be grown in polluted and radioactive water, concentrated and collected at bioreactor scale using a relatively simple process that could be automated.
